COCOBOD TRAINS EXTENSION OFFICERS TO RENDER SERVICES TO COCOA FARMERS
COCOBOD is training extension officers to render services to cocoa farmers as part of its measures to
increase cocoa production in the country
This came to light when the Head of Communications for COCOBOD, Mr. Noah Amenya spoke in an
interview with Rite FM on its morning program dubbed “Morning Ride” on Friday morning. He revealed
that COCOBOD is currently training about 100 extension officers to serve as agent to farmers who would
need extension services so that cocoa farmers can adhere to good agricultural practices to increase
cocoa production in the years ahead
He also mentioned that as part of the measures COCOBOD has distributed fertilizers to cocoa farmers
free of charge and would continue in the next crop season
“We have distributed fertilizers to cocoa farmers free of charge and COCOBOD is looking forward that it
will fertilize cocoa farm lands and the farmers would have more yields” he stated.
Furthermore Mr. Amenya revealed that some cocoa roads have been awarded contract and very soon
his outfit will come out with the details
Cocoa Chemical Smuggling
On the issue of cocoa chemical smuggling, Mr. Amenya noted that COCOBOD is collaborating with the
National Security and the Police to make sure that they monitor smugglers and bring them to book
