Cocobod cautions cheating purchasing Clerks!

Some cocoa farmers have expressed anger over the activities of some purchasing clerks and are asking the government to intervene. The farmers alleged that these purchasing officials adjust the weighing scales when buying cocoa in order to cheat farmers.

The chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Ghana  COCOBOD, Dr. Stephen Opuni said that, officials of COCOBOD, BNI and National Security are on the field monitoring the activities of the purchasing clerks and will cause the arrest of anyone who indulges in this criminal act.

Dr. Opuni who said this at Assin Senchem in the central region when President John Dramani visited Mr. Samuel Torbi, 2013 young Best cocoa farmer in the area to climax his second anniversary celebrations added that, COCOBOD will continue to check the activities of Leading Buying Companies (LBCs) to ensure sanity in the cocoa industry.

He further urged the cherished farmers and the general public to help curb or report anyone who indulges in that act to COCOBOD.
