‘Chop Chop’ Hits The Agriculture Sector – Nana Opambuor Alleges

President for the Concerned Farmer’s Association, Nana Opambour Oboade Bonsu Boateng has said that the leaders in the agriculture sector in the country have failed Ghanaians and farmers as a whole. This he said could lead to the doom of the sector if care is not taken.

Speaking to Nana Bonsu on Rite FM’s Agric Forum on Saturday, he said particularly cited women and youth in agriculture programmes whom he noted were being failed by its leaders. Nana opambuor pointed out that even though the president, John Mahama recently announced that he had given out Gh c 10 million cedis to support the youth and women in agriculture, that money is nowhere to be found while alleging that the said amount may have been misappropriated.

He added that he met the Agric Minister Fiifi Kwetey from whom he enquired what became of the $ 55m that was given to Ghana by the Indian government for mechanization but he was not able to give him any tangible answer about the whereabouts of that money.

He finally noted that women in agriculture in the northern region were really suffering but had no help from that amount as well as other farmers from other parts of the country, questioning the selection process of who benefits from the said amount.
