2012 National Best Cashew Farmer from the Brong Ahafo Region, Mr Anthony Aidoo has been sharing with Rite news how elated and relieved he and his colleagues are at the decision of the government to lift the ban placed on the exportation of cashew.
According to him, the reversal was in the right direction since it would boost the fortunes of the hardworking farmers.
Mr. Aidoo was of the conviction that the move to ban cashew exportation gravely affected the morale of the cashew farmers and added that its lifting would therefore encourage the farmers to cultivate more to boost cashew production in Ghana.
He noted that the ban left them at the mercy of the local buyers who dictated the prices for the commodity, much to the disadvantage of the farmer.
He said he and his colleagues were considering a meeting with the minister of Trade to see how best this will be solved.
