A farming community in the Upper Manya Krobo District, Bukunya is endowed with stones, ‘virgin forest’ reserve and a waterfall (Bukunya Waterfall) which the District would have been earning both local and foreign currencies, but is left underutilized, hence making the community more deplorable and poor.
According to a community member and farmer, Mr. John T. Kwablah who took Rite FM to the scene said, the waterfall, aside it usual purpose as a source of drinking water and also for mixing of fertilizers for their farming, the waterfall has turned a white elephant (useless) to the community and the district, despites the revenue it can generate to improve the fortunes of the community as well the district
He explained that, the Dadematse ( Chief),Elders and the Assembly Member of the Area took numerous steps to the District Assembly seeking for help to transform the place into tourist center to generate some revenue, but upon all efforts, the Assembly have not even taken any step to see the site.
Mr. John Kwablah added that, the community is facing a lot of challenges including electricity, and bad road network.
He therefore appealed to authorities to transform the Waterfall for the community since it will create some job for most of the youth and also aid the community generate some revenue which can keep them somehow self-reliance.
