The former chairman of Ghana national association of poultry farmers has stated that, ‘’the cause of dead in their various farms may be as a symptoms of bird flu in the Greater Accra Region.
He revealed that, the test conducted on the dead birds, resulted five (5) out of six (6) birds had the bird-flu symptoms. He also added that, Nigeria and Burkina Faso also recorded several cases of bird-flu within the last three months and also stress the need to put in place safety measures at our various boarders.
He also added that, birds which had the bird-flu symptoms had been sent to Italy for further examination and analysis on them. Again he added that, the symptoms seen so far cannot kill humans but, can cause death to only birds.
Mr. Kojo Asante therefore advised poultry farmers to practice biosafety measures to prevent disease from attacking the birds. He also revealed that, the disease is an air-borne, so there was the need for farmers to wear protective clothes.
