Asitey: MP Cuts Sod For Construction of Over Ghc500, 000 Clinic, Staff Bungalow

Member of Parliament (MP) for Lower Manya Krobo constituency, Hon. Ebenezer Okletey Teye Larbi has this afternoon hit the ground with mattock and shovel, paving way for construction of a clinic for residents of Asitey in the Lower Manya Krobo Municipality in the Eastern Region.

The health facility upon completion will consist of a theater, maternity ward, out-patient department (OPD), consulting rooms and dispensary.

It will also come with a 4 bedroom bungalow to accommodate staff who will be stationed at the facility.

The Ghc512, 000.00 project with funding from MPs share of the District Assembly Common Fund, National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) and support from philanthropists is expected to be completed in four months.

“The main clinic structure is Ghc326, 000.00 and the bungalow would be about Ghc186, 000. Some of the monies came from the Common Fund, National Health Insurance and those that I have solicited myself,” Hon. Okletey told Rite News.

The lawmaker and member of the parliamentary select committee on Environment further stated that funds are readily available for the project.

The MP said, his decision was necessitated by the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goal, ‘Providing Health for All’.

 In her remarks, the Director of Health at the Lower Manya Health Directorate, Dr. Akosua Sarpong made known that her outfit was going to ensure their mother facility, Ghana Health Service, the Municipal Assembly would support, provide needed logistics and staff for the smooth operation of the yet to be built health post.

The Managing Director of Ziko Company Limited, a contracting firm awarded to construct the facility, Nana Agyei Boateng has assured, he was going to ensure quality is delivered.

The Chiefs and residents of Asitey congratulated the Hon. Ebenezer Okletey Tei Larbi for extending their share of the national cake at this needful time.

Asitey is a suburb of the Lower Manya Krobo municipal. The only health post for the community is operational from a rented home, serving over 5,000 people.

Completion of the health facility will mark the second major development project the MP has extended to his constituent after he established an Aluminum Manufacturing Company in Kpong, on the Akosombo-Tema highway.

According to Hon. Okletey, the factory has an employing capacity of 50 people or more and it will also serve as a place for students as well as apprentices who need industrial learning experience.
