Angry Market Women Give MCE 1 Month Ultimatum To Fix Deplorable Market

Market women of Nkurakan in the Yilo krobo Municipal in the Eastern Region, has issued a month ultimatum to the Municipal Chief Executive of the area, Mr Ebenezer Tetteh Kupualor to start a face lift exercise on the deteriorated market structure in Nkurakan or the Assembly should desist from visiting the market for collection tolls.

The women expressed their anger when Rite FM reporter David Ayertey spoke to them on Monday.

The Nkurakan market is undoubtedly one of the oldest and well patronized markets in the country since people from many parts of the country go to ply their trades on Thursdays and Mondays.

However, the situation at the market is not encouraging as most of the sheds has been ripped off while others have developed serious leakages on the roofs, exposing traders to the unfriendly weather conditions.

Speaking to the media, the Assembly member of the area, Hon. Thomas Amponsah Afredi, said all the numerous effort made to have the situation fix proved futile.

According to him, the Municipal Chief Executive has not been proactive in addressing the pressing challenges in the market, where significant portion of revenue is generated for the Assembly.

Warning, the Assembly member said any further delay in fixing the situation within the shortest possible time will invite the people’s anger on the Assembly Authorities.
