……disability is not inability, an explanation from the smiles of the 2014 Yilo Municipal  Best Farmer, a disabled farmer, after he was donated a wheel cycle and an amount of GHs 600 by listeners of the “Mobilizing Action Towards Agricultural Sector Improvement” (MAASI)- Feed the Future radio platform on February 23, 2016 at the premises of Rite 90.1 FM.

As part of the strategies developed by Rite 90.1 FM to ensure increased attention and resource allocation for the Agricultural sector in the Asuogyaman, Upper Manya, Lower Manya, Yilo Krobo, Akuapem North and Shai Osudoku District/Municipal Assemblies, a second audio documentary which was focused on disables in agriculture was developed. The audio documentary was to reveal the predicaments of disables in the agricultural sector and the best solution expected of various stake holders.

Rite 90.1 FM identified Mr. Steven Nyarku a blind farmer at Asuogyaman District, Mr. KwuKu Willie, a two disabled legged farmer, at the Yilo Municipality and Mr. Christian Freeman a blind man at the Shai Osudoku District. All these farmers in the audio documentary showed that they could do better if stake holders provide the necessary assistance they deserve. Notable among the needs of these farmers in the audio documentary is the need of a wheel cycle to aid movement and an amount to GHs 600 to help build a shelter to house a corn mill by Mr. Kwaku Willie from the Yilo Municipal Assembly.

During the Feed the Future radio Platform on February 23, 2016, the audio documentary was played and a caller listening from the United Kingdom, Madam Millicent donated the GHs 600 to Kwaku Willie and another listener working at the Social Welfare department at the Yillo Municipal Assembly, Mr. Joe Nartey also walked into the premise of Rite 90.1 FM and donated a brand new wheel cycle to Kwaku Willie who happens to be one of the Studio Guest on the said date.

Through MAASI project, Kwaku Willie had all his major needs attended to, of which he was soo grateful to the project team.
