Akateng Manya D/A Primary Cries Over Neglected School Building

Akateng Manya District Assembly Primary School in the Upper Manya District – Eastern Region accuses District Chief Executive Officer, Felix Odjao Nartey and Member of Parliament, Joseph Tetteh (Joe Tee) over neglected school building.

When we talk about poor educational infrastructure in rural communities, mostly the focus is on schools under trees, but pupils of Akateng Manya D/A primary school in the Upper Manya District, do not learn under trees.
However, it will be fair to say they study under conditions worse than that. They learn under a structure built of trees, stamps roofed with Nim tree stumps.

However, the most disturbing aspect is, the absence of desks for the children. The pupils are forced to sit on joined boards to learn, some of them bring in chairs from their houses to sit in class.
Education in this community is tough. Speaking to the pupils, they said “when it is raining, the rain beats us”.

The Chiefs and school authorities accuse the DCE and the MP for not putting in any effort to help the bad condition of the primary school.
The Chiefs and authorities are appealing to good Samaritans and NGOs to support them with a school.

The Chiefs accused District Chief Executive Officer, Felix Odjao Nartey for keeping the community premix fuel percentage that’s expected to be used to put up a structure for the pupils to enhance their learning. The Akateng Manya Community are calling on the DCE to release their 5,500gh¢ to start a structure for the students.
