Agric Extension Students Tour Rite FM

A delegation of students from the Agric Extension Department of the University of Ghana on Monday paid a day’s familiarization visit to Rite FM at Somanya in the Eastern region.

The visit of the Agric Extension students which was led by a lecturer, Miss Jemima Yackah was to accord the students an insight into the functions of Rite FM, a radio station with the vision of promoting agric and social development.

The students, who numbered about twenty, familiarized themselves with various departments of the station including the Rite News Department, the Projects department, the Programmes Department, as well as studio sessions.

Some of the students in an interview with Rite news said their aim of visiting the station was to offer them an opportunity to experience at first-hand how to produce and present educative and relevant stories for farmers in order enhance their work and improve upon their work.

According to the students, their other expectation was to find out how to use radio as a tool of productivity to enhance the agricultural sector adding that most farmers in the rural areas do not succeed with farming due to lack of information and other political influences.

This according to them is why they want to reach out to farmers through the broadcasting of relevant information to farmers as well as the development of educative and critical agric shows to address policies concerning agriculture.

The students expressed satisfaction at the visit and thanked the station for according them the privilege and opportunity to tour the facility and learn from their programs.
