Aflao Orange Market Under Threat

Secretary to the Afloa Orange Sellers Association, Mr. Mamud Ayugiba has voiced out his frustrations regarding what he refers to as the collapsing orange business facing he and his colleagues. This is because, according to him, their Togolese counterparts are also producing in large quantities and therefore overrunning their production which continues to pose a serious competition to their own business. This is because the large quantities of the orange flood in from the neighbouring Togo which in turn badly affects their sales.

But that is not all of their problems as Mr. Ayugiba tells Rite news that the issue of pests and other diseases equally taking their toll on their businesses also badly affects their businesses. He explained that the effects of the diseases on their crops do not make them last long enough on the markets. He said their produce easily get spoilt as a result of these pests, resulting in them running at great losses.

He has therefore appealed to the relevant bodies to help them with chemicals to fight pests and diseases since the quality of their produce is very high.
