President John Dramani Mahama will on Friday the 13th of November, 2015 open the much awaited Rice festival in Accra. Executive secretary of the Ghana Rice Inter Professional body, Mr. Evans Sackey has told Rite FM. He said the festival has been designed to create the awareness of the need for the general public to patronize locally produced rice.
He noted that unlike the previous days where customers complained of stones in the locally produced rice, farmers have improved the mailing and package of local rice hence there is the need for Ghanaians to eat more local rice.
Touching on the upcoming Rice festival which is on Friday, he explained that industry players in the rice value chain will come together to promote locally produced rice through exhibition and advocacy, stating that farmers from the various regions will be present at the festival with their rice.
