Headmaster Commends DEOP II For Improving Teacher – Community Relationship
The Huhunya Presby Junior High School and the host community can now live cordially, thanks to Rite FM’s District Education Observer Project which has ‘united’ the two sides.
The Headmaster of the Huhunya M/A Junior High School in the Yilo Krobo Municipality of the Eastern Region, Mr. Zakaria Yaro Adams is content with the ongoing District Education Observer Project (DEOP II) which he said has tremendously improved upon the teacher – community relationship in Huhunya.
Mr. Zakari who decried the cold relationship between the community and the school said the project was timely in restoring the cordial relationship between the two sides.
“Prior to the introduction of the DEOP, the school was not on very good terms with the community but thanks to the DEOP project, a very good relationship has been re-established with the community,” he asserted.
Parents now pay printing fees for their wards and also attend Parent Teacher Association (PTA) meetings, Mr. Zakari added.
Speaking in an interview with Captain Adabugar during the District Education Observer Programme to share the success stories of the DEOP intervention, the Headmaster said the teachers, aside the school, have also in the wake of the project established “a very good relationship with the community.”
Mr. Zakari therefore pleaded with Rite FM and its partners in the project to continue to fight for the school to access basic logistics such as computers and laptops to enable the school adequately equip the students with Information Communication Technology (ICT) skills.
STAR-Ghana with financial funding from DANIDA, Ukaid and the European Union is supporting Rite FM in the ongoing District Education Observer Project (DEOP II) which seeks to help improve the academic performance of schools in the Yilo Krobo Municipality.
