2015 Was Bad For Mango Market

By Austin Ofori:

A lot of our farmers continue to grapple with one bother or the other regarding their farming activities. It’s either to do with poor climate effects, marketing, low yield or one other problem.

Today, the Mango Farmers Association in the Lower Manya Krobo district has bitterly complained about post-harvest loses they recorded last year. This according to them was largely as a result of poor sales since they could not get consumers to patronize their produce.

According to the Secretary of the Association, Mr. Abraham Akornor, the regrettable weather condition last year also badly affected the flowering of their mango fruits which led to what he called fruit abortion.

According to Mr. Akornor, the authorities should help them to get good and enough markets for their produce or the authorities should help provide processing factories for them.
