2015 Farmers Day Will Be No Different From The Past

Deputy Director of the Shai Osudoku Distrcit Assembly,SODA who doubles as chairman of the Farmers’ Day Planning Committee of the district has ritefmonline that there was not much difference between the previous years’ events and what is expected in 2015 which will take place at Agomeda.

Agricultural opportunities hold the greater percentage of the Ghanaian economy due to the good works of Ghanaian farmers. In recognition of this, the government of Ghana has slated the first Friday of December each year to honor the good works of our nation’s farmers.

This year’s Farmers’ Day celebrations falls on the 5th of December and as part of our responsibilities to keep our readers informed, ritefmonline made a stop at the doorsteps of the Shai Osudoku district Assembly, SODA, at Dodowa in the Greater Accra region. This is to ascertain the level of preparations as far as the celebrations of the day in the Shai Osudoku district were concerned.

According to the Deputy Coordinating Director, the only difference going into this year’s Farmers Day celebrations is that the district was going to introduce to the farmers four new varieties of cassava. He however lamented on some of the problems they passed through last year such as the rains disrupting the event and prayed against a repeat of the natural phenomenon.

The DCD said there were special packages for farmers this year which is why he is urging them to fully partake in this year’s Farmer’s Day celebrations.
