2-Storey Dormitory Block Commissioned For KOTECH

The Eastern Regional Minister, Hon. Eric Kwakye Darfour has handed over a two storey girls dormitory block for Koforidua Technical Institute (KOTECH), here in the Eastern Region.

In his address the gathering at the commissioning ceremony inn Koforidua on Thursday, Hon. Darfour noted government has made tremendous investment in education in the country.

According to the minister, it would open door for prosperity, a better society, and also alleviate poverty among Ghanains

Adding, “this is why government is committing a lot of resources into the educational sector of our economy through the introduction of free Senior High School.”

The Eastern Regional Minister indicated that government is very committed to Technical and Vocational Education and Training because it was crucial to Ghana’s development and would make students independent.

He encouraged the students to concentrate on their studies so that they can contribute meaningfully to the development of the country and also be useful citizens to society

The headmaster of the school, Rev. Theophilus Nunoo on his part, thanked the government led by the President, Nana Akufo-Addo for completion of the girls dormitory.

He acknowledged that the construction of the dormitory block was a joy to students, staff and management of the school since girls in the boarding house were currently housed in the principal’s bungalow and a classroom block.

He also commended government for the Free SHS policy because it has enabled a lot of students to gain admission to the school. He pointed out that because there was a hope for self-employment after school, a lot of JHS candidates prefer to be trained at the technical institutions.

The 2-storey dormitory block consists of ten dormitory rooms, two teacher’s apartment, 18 unit water closet, and a bathroom to contain 30 peostudents at a time, ironing bay and washing area. The project was funded by Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund).
Koforidua Technical Institute has a student population of 2450 students, with 350 girls and 2100 boys.
