Yilo Krobo: Successful NABCO applicants hail government

Successful applicants of the Nation Builders Corps program in the Yilo Krobo Municipal have commended the government of the New Patriotic Party for the outstanding opportunities created to increase graduate employment in the country.

The applicants while expressing their profuse appreciation to the current government on Wednesday, during a successful orientation at both District and Municipal levels in the country were unanimous in showering praises on the government during an encounter with the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Yilo Krobo as he interacted with successful applicants on best practices and attitudes of work as they begin work.

The Nation Builders Corps (NABCO) programme is a government of Ghana initiative to address graduate unemployment to solve social problems. The focus of the initiative will be towards solving public service delivery in health, education, agriculture, technology, governance and drive revenue mobilization and collection.

Addressing the applicants, the Hon MCE, Ebenezer Tetteh Kupualor cautioned the beneficiaries to eschew the notion that the NABCO program was for members of the ruling party only. “No matter your political affiliation, you should know that the NABCO opportunity as created by the President of the Republic, is for all Ghanaians and not only for NPP members,” he said.

The assembly chief noted that all applicants will be given equal opportunities and should therefore endeavor to put up positive attitudes and integrity during their stay as Nation Builders “as it’s the only way to develop and build Ghana.”

Chairman of the New Patriotic Chairman in the Yilo Krobo constituency, Dr. Gabriel Odeh Apportey while assuring the NABCO applicants of the continuous support of the assembly and government to address all challenges during the discharge of their work, urged them not to be bothered by the areas they are posted to work, stressing that building their career should be a matter of utmost priority to them.

“It does not matter where you are posted in the Municipality but rather you should take every opportunity to build and develop your career for future opportunities after NABCO,” said the NPP constituency chairman. “Our doors are always open for every applicant to talk to us about all challenges that may crop up during your working period as Nation Builders.”

Dr. Apotey also made a benevolent offer to all applicants present and assured them of a successful and fruitful partnership with the municipality.

President Akufo-Addo launched the NABCO programme in Kumasi on May Day this year as an initiative by the government to provide employment for 100,000 unemployed graduates this year.

The programme will initially operate seven modules designed to meet the pressing needs of the nation while providing jobs for the teeming youth who have received tertiary education but are struggling to find jobs.

The beneficiaries will be engaged for three years, and they are expected to earn a monthly stipend of ¢700 each.

About 147,000 people nationwide applied for the NABCO program.
