WILDAFF GHANA Admits   Sexual Harassment between Female Farmers and Extension Officer

Male Agriculture Extension Officers demanding sex from women in agriculture before offering them a service has become phenomenon in Ghana’s Agriculture sector, where majority of women have become victims of this unaccepted act.

In view of this, Rite news spoke to Madam Lious  Adamah who happens to be the Programs Manager for Women in Law and Agriculture (WILDAF GHANA)and she said, they have received several complains from women concerning sexual harassment by Agric Extension Officers but in their capacity condemned this unfortunate act.

She stated that because extension officers in the country in the country are not many, punishing them when find guilty of such behavior s becomes challenging adding that it hinderes high productivity in the sense that women who were one’s victims of this sexual harassment failed to approach these extension officers for help.

Madam lious further stated that government should recruit more female agric extension officer to help reduce the situation.

She mentioned, that capacity building training should offered to the male extension officers to equipped them on the work.
