A renowned bishop, Bishop Ato of the Fire Victory Church has said on Rite fm’s Aware Fie that women who lose their husbands are capable of raising their children after the death of their husbands if their hubbies put in such measures while they were alive.
He said this in response to the age old problem of some relatives taking over the property of the deceased relative to the detriment of his wife and children.
He said there is no need for a relative to come in as those who come in to play the father roles of the children after the demise of a relative only come in as leeches who end up shrinking this responsibility while only interested in taking up the property for themselves.
Also contributing to the show, Madam Azu, a teacher and a counselor said properties in a marriage belong to both partners and relatives cannot take over them in the death of one partner.
She advised affected women especially to take advantage of the intestate succession law to take such issues to the law courts for proper redress.
She said women contribute to the putting up of family properties and that they’re still entitled to the man’s property even if she physically contributed noting.
