We Will Tackle Corruption With New Approaches – Jonathan

President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan has expressed his administration’s readiness to approach its fight against corruption in a new dimension.

The Nigerian President explained that convicting offenders does not stop corruption in the country, hence the decision by his cabinet members to adopt another approach to curb corruption in the country.

The Presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, was speaking during an interactive session with an organised private sector on Sunday.

He noted that, “convicting Nigerians does not stop corruption. You have to block all avenues that lead to corruption and that is what my administration is fighting really hard to work out.

“As I speak, we have already put machinery into motion in our fight against corruption and we are trying a new and dynamic approach in our fight against corruption and I am sure that we shall come out tops”.

While addressing other issues which arose from questions asked by the audience, the former deputy governor of Bayelsa state averred that, “the issue of Boko Haram will not continue, I can assure you of that. I just returned from Borno and we are working out measures to fight Boko Haram to a stand still.

“We need to work with the private sectors too. We have constructed some roads and we are re-surfacing some others. We have about 35kilometres of federal government roads which need intervention and we have done about 20. In the next three years, we should be able to finish up the remaining ones.

“We are trying to introduce farming from Secondary schools so that students can know the difference between commercial farming and other types of farming.

“Honestly, we have great plans for the people and I can assure Nigerians that all these plans would be implemented in the shortest possible time”.
