OCP to Contribute to Agricultural Sustainability in Africa

“As a global actor in the field of agriculture, the OCP aspires to play a leading role in the process of improving agricultural productivity in Africa,” the General Director of the OCP  Mostafa Terrab said at the Clinton Global Initiative (CGI) Middle-East and Africa conference, held on May 5-7 in Marrakech.

Africa has great to potential to achieve “green revolution,” and food security, which is one of the biggest challenges that continent faces in the 21st century, he said at a conference on agri-food, energy and water”.

In this respect, Terrab stressed the need for the adoption of good agricultural development strategies involving the optimal use of fertilizer.

Other speakers including farmers, business executives, decision-makers and civil society representatives called for more investments in sustainable agriculture product.

They also called for facilitating the access of small farmers to funding to allow them to acquire equipment and use technology relating to agri-food value chains, energy and water.
