Prof Mills’s family ‘bans’ Rawlings from his commemorative events

The family of the late President John Evans Atta Mills has cautioned ex-President Rawlings to stay away from all events commemorating the passing of  Prof. Atta Mills.

This follows the ex-President’s recent comments that the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) would have lost the 2012 presidential poll if it had presented then President Mills as its candidate.

The former president was reported to have said that he didn’t campaign for President John Mahama.

Mr Rawlings later said his comments had been twisted and that all he said was that credit should not be denied President John Mahama whom he said won the election on his own strength.

On Saturday, the Mills family expressed its disappointment with the comments, which it deems rather disparaging.

A brother of the late president, Dr Cadman Mills, on behalf of the family, said former President Rawlings must stay away from any public event organised to commemorate the third anniversary of the death of President Atta Mills to avoid any public embarrassment from the family.

He is, however, urging the general public to bear with the Atta Mills family for taking such decision.
