Prisoners to grow their own food is a good decision – Shakespeare

Mr. Shakespeare Jokoto, an Agric consultant has noted that the decision taken by the Ghana Prisons Service to embarked on farming and other projects aimed at providing adequate food to feed inmates in the prisons across the country is a good decision.

 

Mr Jokoto was contributing to the decision taken by the Ghana Prisons Service to grow their own food to feed the inmate.

 

The Public Relations Officer of the Ghana Prisons Service Vitalis Aryeh, told the media that the service is strongly embarked in farming amongst others to feed the inmates and also aid exportation

 

“Apart from prisons at the center of cities and towns that don’t have lands, any other prisons that have land around it is used by its inmates to farm,” he disclosed.

 

Mr. Shakespeare Jokoto in an interview with Rite FM News caution the Ghana Prisons Service to vigilant to make sure that the inmates do not escape when they go to work on the farms.

 

He also call on them to collaborate with private institutions to put in place measures and incentives that can help them expand their farms and also make their farming very attractive
