President Will Deliver on agric promises – Prof Gyan

The Minister for Planning and Member of Parliament (MP) for the Wenchi Constituency in the Western region, Honorable Professor Gyan Baffour has expressed his optimism in the president, his Excellency Nana Addo Danquah Akuffo Addo, to deliver on his one district one factory as well as the one village, one dam in the northern region which is aimed at providing irrigation opportunities for the farming sector and also create more jobs especially for the youth.

The minister made the comments while speaking in Parliament on Thursday on government’s plans towards job creation through the agricultural sector.

According to Professor Gyan Baffour, president Akuffo Addo’s plans of creating adequate employment opportunities for the youth through the agric sector was in the right direction since agriculture and industrialization stood as partners in creating job opportunities for the youth.

‘During the State of the Nation Address (SONA), his Excellency Nana Addo Danquah Akuffo Addo explained how he will create employment opportunities for the youth which is through agricultural. Agriculture and industrialization is the way to create jobs for the youth of this country. The government will invest into agriculture and generate work for the youth and the investment will improve irrigation facilities through the one district one dam initiative,’ the minister stated.

According to him, government will also invest in the industrialization of agriculture produce through the ‘one district one factory policy’ to enhance the creation of jobs for the youth. ‘The next plan for jobs creation is the industrialization and this will be seen in the processing of agriculture,’ he stressed.
