Organic Farming Is The Way Out

A research scientist at the Biotechnology Nuclear Agriculture Institute, Mr. Nettey Samuel has advised farmers to consider the prospect of going into organic farming. This according to him is in spite of the several advantages that come with that type of farming as against other methods usually adopted by the majority of our farmers.

But Mr. Nettey is not the only one making the call. Mr. Nelson Asiedu, CEO for Annex ‘A” enterprise and who formerly worked with the Ministry of Food and Agriculture and now a farmer has equally added his voice to the call. According to Mr. Asiedu, organic farming is very good because farmers will not use any chemical especially considering the side effects of the use of chemicals on both farmers and consumers.

Citing some of the advanatges to support their arguments, they noted that organic fertilizer helps in the preservation of water in the soil after the rains which in turn support crop growth. The two men added that droppings from animals such as pigs and cattle are very good for crop production because they preserve water in the soil to boost production. This they concluded always helps crop production.
