Assembly Member for the Nkurankan electoral area in the Yilo Krobo Municipal in the eastern region, Evelyn Teiko Asenih has bemoaned that the Nkurakan market has over grow its current location. She said the market and its activitivities find their current location too small and have therefore called on authorities to hasten efforts to expand the market space to a more spacious level place.
Miss Asenih was speaking on the sidelines of the Mobilizing Action towards Agricultural Sector Improvement workshop held at Somanya. She said the situation has resulted in heavy vehicles which came from the cities to purchase food stuff from farmers no longer coming due the unavailability of parking spaces for their vehicles. As the assembly member fears, this could adversely affect the marketing activities of local farmers.
She said the situation has remained so over the years even as the market continues to grow with traders coming from far and near. She said this has compelled traders to shift so close to the roadside, a situation which endangers their lives.
However, Municipal Chief Executive, honourable Andrews Sodah present at the workshop said the assembly was seriously working towards upgrading the market to a more spacious level.
