NFFAWAG cannot host farmers’ day-PFAG

The programme officer for peasant farmers association of Ghana (PFAG) MR. Charles Nyaaba does not agree with the chairman of NFFAWAG that farmers should be given the mandate to organize farmers’ day.

He said it will be unrealistic demands for him to say that, MoFA and government should wash their hands and give that role to the farmers.

The chairman of national farmers and fishermen award winners association of Ghana. Mr. Davis Narh Korboe has suggested that, farmers should be given the mandate to organize farmers’ day whiles MoFA will be a facilitator.

Mr. Nyaaba speaking to Rite News noted that, it is the ministry of food and Agriculture who gives the resources adding that it also the role of the government to send out the technical people to assess the famers and select them for the awards. So how then can NFFAWAG combine these responsibilities and carry them out effectively? He asked

He commented, farmers do not have enough logistics and personnel with much competency to play that role but rather suggested that, MoFA should continue to involve the farmers associations in whatever they are doing.
