Man Arrested For Impersonating Somanya Police Commander

A young man (name withheld) and resident of Sra, a suburb of Somanya in the Eastern region has been arrested by the police in Somanya on Thursday for allegedly impersonating the Somanya Police Commander.

Somanya Police Commander, ASP Isaac Otsin in an interview with Rite News said the police picked information on Thursday afternoon that the suspect who was impersonating ASP Isaac Otsin had severally engaged in the illegality by introducing himself as such to some gullible individuals.

The suspect whose motives for the act was not clear, ASP Otsin indicated, will remain in police custody as the police conduct further investigations into the case.

Narrating the circumstances leading to the arrest of the suspect, the Police Commander said a complainant in the case and resident at Akuse in the Eastern region came to the police station in apparent response to an invitation from the police.

ASP Otsin said the complainant explained that he had received a call on Thursday from the ‘Police Commander’ to report at the Somanya Police Station immediately.

The Commander who denied requesting the complainant to report to the station, immediately instituted investigations into the case which led to the arrest of the suspect.

During interrogation, the suspect told police that he was “just playing” with the complainant.

Meanwhile, investigations continue into the matter after which the culprit could face prosecution.
