Kworli farmers laud President Mahama

Executives of the Kworli Area Farmers and Fishermen Association on Monday called on the President, John Dramani Mahama to thank him for visiting and inaugurating their association.

They were led to the Flagstaff House by the Paramount Chief of the Nakpali Traditional Area and the President of the Association, Naa Alhaji Dawuda M. Jawara.

Speaking during their visit, President Mahama said thanked them for the visit, noting that “this is the peak of the farming season and as farmers you must be very busy. So for you to leave your farms and come all the way to Accra, I feel very honoured and privileged to receive you.”

He again praised members of the association for coming together as a cooperative, adding that the success of their association will help with government’s efforts to get farmers to form cooperatives.

“For you, yourselves, to have taken that initiative and formed a cooperative I think that the least government can do is to support and encourage you because it makes it easier for government to reach you.”

President Mahama in March 2014 joined the predominately farming community of Kworli- Nakpali to inaugurate their association.
