I’ve not joined NDC – Mercy Asiedu

A Kumawood actress, Mercy Asiedu, has dismissed rumours making the rounds that she had endorsed President John Dramani Mahama and will be campaigning for the NDC.

The rumours emerged after the Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Elizabeth Ofosu Agyare, recently met some movie makers in Kumasi to brief them on measures the government is putting in place to shape the industry.

After the said meeting, rumours started flying that key persons like Michael Ola, FIPAG PRO, Samuel Darko, the CEO of Kumawood, Mercy Asiedu among others had allegedly endorsed President John Mahama and would be part of the NDC campaign trail.

But, Mercy Asiedu on Adom Entertainment Hall with Mike’2′ said, she had not made any such endorsement.

“As an actress, my work cuts across, l make everybody happy through acting and also l serve every government irrespective of the political affiliation. l work for every political party who comes to power to lead the country”, she said.

She said the same issue was raised four years ago when she and other film makers met the NPP’s Nana Akufo-Addo for a meeting.

“After the meeting l was everywhere in the news that l have now joined the elephant party which was not the purpose of the said meeting”, she noted.

She has therefore urged all, particularly her fans not to pay attention to anyone with such information.
