The President of the Fulani Herdsmen Association of Ghana, Alhaji Bingle has denied allegations brought against Fulani’s stating it cannot be proven that Fulani herdsmen are involved in murder or rape activities at Agogo in the Ashanti region.
However, the people of Asante Akyem Agogo have renewed their appeal to government to act decisively to put an end to the lawlessness and criminal acts of Fulani herdsmen in the area.
They said the alien herdsmen and their animals had become a major threat to the peace and security of the people in the area.
The people accused the Fulani herdsmen of killing, maiming, destruction of farms and crops as well as pollution of water bodies.
Alhaji Bingle speaking to Rite FM news in interview added that, all issues mentioned by the chiefs and citizens in the area are just allegations that have no proof.
“If that is the case, then it will rather be Fulani women who are been raped by. the citizens of Agogo” – Alhaji bingle.
Alhaji bingle has blamed the chief of Agogo as being the cause of these riots in the area.
“I do not understand why the chief should admit the Fulani herdsmen and give them demarcation after he has received certain amounts of money and drinks for them to settle in the area, only to turn around to eradicate them” – Alhaji bingle
He also added that, the chiefs always create problem, because after a certain portion of the land is given to the Fulani’s they turn around to sell the lands to individuals. This creates confusion between the Fulani’s and the citizens because the Fulani’s claim that portion of the land was alloted to them.
