Government has finally responded to the plea of the National Farmers and Fishermen Award Winners Association (NFFAWAG) to release subsidized fertilizer on the marked for farmers to begin the major farming season.

About two weeks ago NFFAWAG organized an emergency press conference to lunch their grievances on the delay in supply of the subsidized fertilizer and its effect on major farming season.

Speaking on Rite FM’s Morning Ride, the Chairman of NFFAWAG Nene Davis Korboe revealed the supply has started in the Ashanti region’s capital Kumasi yesterday following the Minister for Food and Agriculture Fiifi Kwetey’s visit to the region last Thursday to Chemico a fertilizer distribution company to facilitate the supply.

He added the Finance Ministry has started paying chemical companies involved in the exercise, stating it is a green light for more distribution.

To verify the authencity of the distribution Nene Davis Korboe said he organized farmers in the Ashanti region to verify at Chemico yesterday and truly there were enough and even some were ready on trucks to be dispersed to the Northern part of Ghana.

He used the platform to thank the President for heading to their call and advised farmers to start the application as soon as possible.

He sent a deterring warning to farmers who always take advantage of the subsidy to smuggle to Togo and Cote D’voire that spies have been set on all borders and culprit will be severely punished if caught.
