Rev. Jacob Zotbah, a vegetable and mango farmer at Asutuare has revealed that, aside the disadvantages of GMO which Ghanaians are already aware of, increasing dollar rates will also affect our technology meanwhile our technology is also not reliable for the GMO crops.
Speaking in an Interview on “Akuafo Si Sen” segment of the “Morning Show, Rev. Jacob Zotbah said that, technology is not reliable likewise our scientist are also not reliable until they prove they are worth it.
He said looking at how our currency has depreciated, once the dollar goes up, it will affect the technologies which will eventually increase the price of GMO seed.
Meanwhile, the chairman for national best farmers and fishermen award winners association of Ghana, Mr. Davis Narh Korboe has also said that, GMO is already in existence so Ghanaians should allow the plants breeders bill to be passed.
Mr. Davis Narh Korboe emphasized that, if this is going to put our farmers out of business then, it is not worth it because our farmers should be on course.
