DOA, DA benefit from Rite FM Capacity Building Workshop

Rite FM has built the capacity of the Department of Agriculture (DOA), the District Assembly, (DA) as well as Farmer Based Organizations, (FBOs) in the Asuogyaman District Assembly on the Mobilizing Action towards Agriculture Sector Improvement MAASI project and related issues.

Mr. Jonnie Addo-Fenning, Chief Executive Officer of Rite FM in his Opening Statement indicated that the purpose of the workshop is to build the capacity of the various stakeholders of Agric in the district to understand the policies of Agric development in Ghana and also increase allocation of resources to the DOA and also promote the inclusion of FBOs in the preparation of budgets and Plans of the DOA.

He noted that, Rite FM over the last 5years has been involved in the championing of Agric development through our projects and radio programming aimed at improving the livelihoods especially in the area of Agriculture. He added that Rite FM has achieved this by collaborating with several international and local organizations.

Mr. Addo –Fenning also noted that the MAASI project which is an initiative of Rite FM and is being sponsored by the kind courtesy of the USAID/Ghana Feed the Future (FtF) Agriculture Policy Support Project APSP. The project which began in July 2015 is expected to end by October 2016. “At the end of this exercise, it is expected that there should be more measurable evidence of increased participation of FBOs in the preparation of the plan and budget of the DOA and also increased resources allocation to the DOA in the Asuogyman, Lower Manya, Yilo Krobo, Upper Manya, Akuapem North and Shai Osudoku, in the Eastern and Greater Accra Regions,” Mr. Fenning said.
