Bad Roads Affecting Farming Activities In The Fanteakwa District

Mr. Williams Opoku a tomato farmer in the Fanteakwa district has uttered angrily his concern about inadequate roads affecting farming activities in their district.

According to him, roads leading to the main road, market places and their farms are in very bad shape, making road accessibility very difficult. He revealed this on “Akuafo Si Sen” a segment on the Morning Ride.

Mr. Williams Opoku noted that, even though they have a district chief executive (DCE) in the district, he does not seem to help them at all. During periods of bumper harvest of tomatoes and other produced, they found it very difficult to sell their produces, which leads to deterioration of produced.

He also stated that the chief of Akyem Begoro has asked his citizen to contribute monies for the construction of the roads but has fail to assist them in the construction.

Mr. Williams Opoku stressed that, recently, a tractors was sent to work on the road, but ended up causing tragedy by taking the live of a thirteen (13) year old boy and other injures.

The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Fanteakwa District Hon. Fuseni Abash admitted the fact that, the roads are in bad shape, he further explained that because the district is a rural district, developmental issues are somehow difficult to addressed. He told Rite FM in an interview on the morning show.

The DCE added that, on a yearly bases they try as much as possible to do some maintenance on the roads but he is not aware of the state of the roads in Akyem Begoro. He therefore urged the people of Begoro to exercise patience because their problems will be fully addressed there are tractors there to work on the roads in his district for that matter, Akyem Begoro will be his next focus.
