Apply technology, innovation or remain poor – Gratis CEO

Agriculture practices of today has migrated from the use of cutlasses and hoes into the use of technology, innovation and science making the activities on the field (Agric) easier and result yielding.

The Chief Executive Officer for Gratis Foundation has disclosed on Agrotech that, farming needs innovation and those farmers who don’t engage in using these technology innovations in their work normally end up poor since their input is less.

He added that, farmers using manpower in their activities in the years to come will encounter deteriorating health while others would not be able to give their wards better education, because they don’t make much profit from the work.

Mr. Asiedu further said, his companies and other companies do organize trade fairs and demonstrations for farmers using their machines to see the essence and fastness in using machines for farming.

The CEO continue that, most farmers complain of the prices of the machines, therefore he advised that, farmers form Farmer  Base Organizations ( FBO’s) to help them purchase the machines but urged peasant or small scale farmers that can afford the machines to acquire them since it can fetch them some income should they rent it out to other farmers.

He appealed to farmers to adapt the use of these machines to make agriculture more interesting to attract the youth into farming.
