Adhere To Fire Safety Precautions

The second in command of the Yilo Krobo Municipal Fire Service, Mr. Ebenezer Djabatey has advised people in his district as well as Ghanaians in general to adhere strictly to fire safety precautions especially during the dry season in order to avert possible fire outbreaks during the period.

Mr. Djabatey who was speaking on Rite FM’s morning show on Thursday touched on the need to take precautions in the use of electrical appliances as well as gas related appliances. According to him, the use of faulty electrical and gas related gadgets have largely resulted in fire outbreaks in homes, offices and other places where such items are used.

On the use of fire extinguishers, the fire officer charged both domestic and commercial users of such appliances to keep extra vigilant in their use. He particularly stressed on commercial operators such as chop bar operators, drivers, farmers and domestic users of fire and gas to be very careful and equip themselves with fire extinguishers for security reasons.

Mr. Djabatey also cautioned the general public against the engaging in the act of illegal connection of power but rather seek the services of a certified electrician for wiring services since they are trained on fire precaution measures as part of their profession.

On the performances of the Municipal Fire Service, the second in command expressed satisfaction at their supposed successes. Mr. Djabatey pointed out that the Yilo Municipal Fire Service has chalked some successes in year the just ended year, 2016. This he compared to the previous years of 2015 and 2014 where areas such as domestic, commercial and bush fire outbreak were concerned.

According to him, the service has embarked on a house to house education on fire prevention. This is through organizing workshops for businesses, media education and above all the enforcement of the fire laws in collaboration with the assembly and the police service in the municipality. This, he insists has led to the achievement and they would continue with those measures.
