An Agricultural sub-committee Critical For Shai Osudoku

Participants present at the Mobilizing Action towards Agriculture Sector Improvement (MAASI) workshop have unanimously appreciated the need for the Shai Osudoku District Assembly to establish a sub-committee on agriculture for the district.

This was during the Rite FM organized MAASI tour of six districts within the Eastern and Greater Accra regions when it made its stop at the Dodowa district assembly hall in the Greater Accra region on Thursday and Friday.

Coordinator for MAASI, Emmanuel Asamoah and his two facilitators including Mr. John Obuaba and Mr. Alimo, the District Coodinating Director, the Planning Officer for the Shai Osudoku district, Farmer-Based Organizations, FBOs, as well as assembly members present appreciated the problems associated with the absence of an agricultural sub-committee when the issue came up during the workshop.

The District Coordinating Director admitted that though the district appreciated the importance of agriculture in the Shai Osuddoku district, it did not have a sub-committee to over see its activities. He however indicated that though the district did not boast of a sub-committee on agriculture, it was still imbibed under one of the sub-committees.

However, the general clarion call from other stakeholders was that agriculture was too critical for it not to have an entire sub-committee of its own. They said farmers and farming activities needed the maximum attention and assistance and that could only be achieved through the establishment of an agricultural sub-committee.
