A Tamale High Court presided over by Justice Nobel Nkrumah has sentenced Yakubu Ali, 19, a galamsey miner, and Ernest Kona, 19, a student, to death by hanging for the murder of Dawuda Adams, 23, a gold dealer, in Bole in the Northern Region five years ago.

The Northern Regional Police Spokesman, ASP Ebenezer Tetteh, who confirmed the incident to DAILY GUIDE, stated that the suspects went to the house of now deceased Dawuda Adams and informed him that they had gold for sale as a pretext to steal the gold he had already bought from some suppliers. They then decided to take him to the location of the gold but on their way, Yakubu Ali told them he had left something behind. But instead of going back to pick whatever he supposedly left behind, Ali rather rushed to the meeting joint ahead of Adams and Kona.

Immediately Kona and Adams got to the location, Ali shot Adams with a locally manufactured gun at close range, killing him instantly.

They then took the bag he was carrying, which contained gold and an undisclosed amount of money, and dumped his body at a nearby bush.

According to ASP Ebenezer Tetteh, investigations later led to the arrest of the two suspects. They were charged with conspiracy to commit crime to wit murder and murder and arraigned before the Tamale High Court presided over by Justice Nobel Nkrumah.

Last Friday they were sentenced to death by hanging and are currently at the Tamale central prisons.
