Yilo Krobo MP Tours BECE Centers, Warns Graduands Over Life Style After School
Bearing less than 48 hours to end the 2019 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), the Member of Parliamment for the people of Yilo Krobo Constituency in the Eastern region, Hon. Lawyer Magnus Kofi Amoatey has visited the centers, conveying his felicitation and good will message to both teachers and candidates.
Accompanying the National Democratic Congress Member of Parliament was her Municipal Director of Education, Mrs. Akosua Tetteh, the Examination Coordinator, Mr. Amisah Gideon Assumeng and the some media practitioners.
Having visited four of the 7 examination centers, Mr. Kofi Amoatey observed, encouraged, counseled and commend candidates who will be completing their first national exams on Friday June 14, 2019.
The visited centers include Yilo Krobo Senior High School A & B, Somanya Presby Basic School, Oterkporlu and Nkurakan MA Basic School.
Hon. Lawyer Magnus Kofi Amoatey cautioned candidates to be careful and live a good life after school.
“This is the beginning of life, the foundation of education; completing JHS doesn’t mean you have completed school. You are now starting school, so you must be very careful whilst you wait for your results,” he said.
He also warned them against engaging in social vices.
“I don’t want to see you at the drinking spots and other unacceptable places after here.”
Over 2, 038 candidates from 68 basic schools will be completing the BECE across Yilo Krobo Municipal.
As part of his social responsibilities, the legal practitioner and law maker said, he has been investing his share of the District Assembly Common Fund into basic school pupils since his first term in 2013, hence the call to monitor the examination exercise.
From the MP’s generosity, candidates benefited from vacation classes and Mathematical set, which were aids to enable candidates give better account of themselves.
The 2019 Basic Education Certificate Examinations (BECE) commenced Monday, June 10, 2019, with a total of 517,332 candidates from 16,871 across the country.
