We Brought NIA So “We Are Obliged To Recruit Whoever We Want” – Dr Gabriel Aportey

The constituency chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Yilo Krobo, Dr Gabriel Aportey has stated emphatically that the National Identification Authority (NIA) was introduced by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) so therefore they have the right to register and recruit whoever they want.
He said this in response to the allegation leveled by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Chairman in the constituency – Hon Agbo Narh, on the Rite morning Ride this morning.

Hon Agbo Narh reported to the host of Rite Morning Ride – Austin Offori Addo that last Saturday he had an information that the NIA is registering some NPP members when the time for the registration is not yet due.
According to Hon Agbo, when he got to the center, he saw the Yilo Krobo Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) – Hon Ebenezer Kupualor, the NPP constituency chairman and other party gurus who were present and ordering the NIA officials. According to one of the NIA officials, they were instructed to do the card for journalists, policemen, chiefs and queen mothers and other officials but at the center, there were no such people at the center rather NPP members were being registered.
‘’ Officials recruited for the registration are all NPP members and registering people when the date set for the registration is not due is illegal’’ according to Hon Agbo Narh.
But responding to the allegation the NPP Chairman Dr Gabriel Aportey, made it clear that the opposition party should not bring themselves because they were not the initiators of NIA so they have no right to complain on any wrong doing. ‘’MCE is the president representative so he has the authority to command and order anyone, I am not interested in the NDC complains I want to let them know that they are in opposition and in the near few months they will be opposition for good’’ he bragged.
He added even though it is not NPP who are doing the registration, he want to set the record straight to the opposition to mind their tongue because they are in opposition and have no right to query anyone.
‘’The officials who will be working for the card are supposed get their card before the day for general registration and the MCE has decided to include policemen, and chiefs and queen mothers to avoid being in a long queue and they had their card and left before Hon Agbo Narh came there’’ He explained.
