The CEO of CTA Ghana Limited, Mr. Kwame Amoako–Hene has asked farmers to have a mindset of seeing farming as a business rather than doing it for consumption.
He continued that before an individual can go into agriculture, he /she must have the mindset of doing business because agriculture is all about producing crops to be sold. However, the individual must know what to cultivate, produce and to sell because agriculture is for business minded people.
One must also put into consideration the need at the market which can help bring income. He added that though there may be a lot of the same product on the market, the farmer is advised to add value to the product and it will however fetch income.
The CEO also disclosed that the high price of farm machinery and implements has led to farmers inability to purchase or rent farm inputs for farming. He urged farmers to grow big farms to make it possible for them to purchase the machinery needed on their farms.
He further explained that, machines would help farmers to expand their farms and help them work with efficiency, however, it can also bring financial losses to them if not used with care.
