Private School Certification; “Avoid Unauthorized Bodies”- GNACOPS To Members
The leadership of Ghana National Council of Private Schools (GNACOPS) has cautioned managers and proprietors of the various private schools in the country to avoid all unauthorized institutions that have not been mandated to register or certify their schools.
The Council through the Director for Administration Madam Esther Quist Wood said: “ GNACOPS is advising all members to deal only with the right body which is the National Inspectorate Board (NIB) as enshrined in the Education Regulatory Bodies Bills to secure their school’s operational legitimacy”.
The foregoing call came up following a notice received by the Council from the Ministry of Education and it’s the agency responsible for monitoring and evaluation of educational standards and outcomes in Ghana at the Pre-Tertiary level of Education.
The notice informs that; “all schools at the Pre-Tertiary level, both public and private are supposed to be registered and licensed solely by NIB.
Educating the association members, she said: “ to operate a private school in Ghana, the following certificates are required”…
A) Company Registration Certificate (issued by the Registrar General Department),
B) Operational license certificate (issued by the Local Government Authority)
C) School registration certificate (issued by the National Inspectorate Board)”.
According to a press release copied to Rite News and signed by the Director for Administration Esther Quist Wood, the directive is in line with the new operational development of the school’s certification.
GNACOPS holds the strong opinion that educational provision and its delivery must be guided to propel the future avenues of the young generation.
“We are fully committed continuously in leasing with all the agencies mandated by the sector ministry in the performance of their obligation” the release states.
