Chelsea have joined the battle for want away Real Madrid midfielder Mateo Kovacic.
Italian transfer expert Gianluca di Marzio reports Kovacic is in Maurizio Sarri’s shortlist of targets amid his exploits for Croatia at the World Cup. The sacked Napoli coach is expected to soon be confirmed as Chelsea manager.
Chelsea have contacted Real Madrid to ask about getting Kovacic on-board ahead of next season.
And the 24-year-old may fancy a move to the Premier League given his recent comments regarding a Bernabeu exit.
“I believe the best thing for me would be to go to another club where I’d have the opportunity to play regularly as a starter,” said Kovacic.
“I think I can have this opportunity and it’s one I want right now.”
