Kings and Queens Medical University College Admission For 2021/2022 Academic Year Now Open
The Kings and Queens Medical University College in the Eastern Region has announced the opening of the online admission portal for the Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery ( MBChB) programme for the 2021/2022 Academic Year.
The remaining programmes approved to take off include Doctor of Pharmacy ( Pharm D) and Doctor of Optometry ( OD).
Meanwhile, the Doctor of Medical Laboratory Science ( MLS.D) is set to begin in the 2022/2023 academic year.
Though affiliated to the University of Development Studies, (UDS), Tamale, Ghana, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, ( KNUST), Ghana and the Hebei Medical University, China, the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) has Accredited the Medical School to run as a private tertiary institution in the country.
Located at Akuse Junction off Tema – Akosombo Highway, the admission portal will be closed for both local and foreign students Wednesday, 15 September, 2021.
Members of the general public interested and willing to practice in the field of Medicine are invited to visit the admission portal via www.kqmu.kqmuc.edu.gh or walk into the admission office of the University at Akuse Junction for their application Forms.
While the minimum requirement is SSSCE and WASSCE for Ghana and West African applicants, entrance examination and interview options are also available. Prospective Students with Bachelor’s Degrees in the Science Disciplines are also encouraged to apply.
The Founder and Council Chairman of the Kings and Queens Teaching Medical University College, who doubles as the CEO & President of the Kings and Queens Teaching Hospital, Dr. Jerryson Ameworgbe Gidisu said the facility would provide a conducive environment for teaching, research and training of healthcare professionals with the highest standard and, also pioneer the use of new medical and surgical technologies.
The school is set with the vision of becoming a globally recognized premier medical university of excellence in the training of high quality medical health practitioners.
On their part, the Hebei Medical University of China has pledged its commitment to pave way for students of the Ghanaian affiliate (Kings and Queens Medical University College) to visit Chinese Teaching Hospitals and health professionals to support the transfer of skills and knowledge to improve the quality of healthcare.
The Director of the Cardiothoracic Centre of the Hebei Medical University of China, Prof. Chen Lihua made this known two years ago when Kings and Queens Teaching Hospital was inaugurated in Ghana.
“We will send in various professionals and medical experts from China to do advanced surgeries, exchange students and retrain more Ghanaian doctors in China to improve efficiency,” he said.
With a well-structured programme that will encourage self-learning among students, the university has a fully air-conditioned hostel accommodation, skills laboratories, research centers, Cadaver Dissection Rooms, campus WiFi, spacious dining hall, library and constant water supply.
Academic programmes including Bachelor of Nursing, Bachelor of Midwifery, Bachelor of Dental Surgery, Bachelor of Pediatrics Nursing and other Diploma programmes in health will be enrolled in the 2022/2023 academic year.
