Ghana Not Ready For Cannabis Legalization –Activist

“Say no to cannabis Advocate”, Rev. Dr Nana Yaa Owusu Prempeh, says Ghana is not ready for the legalization of cannabis.
Her comment follows a press conference held by the Rastafarian community in Ghana calling for the legalization of cannabis.

Rev. Dr Nana Yaa Owusu Prempeh, who made the statement, expressed displeasure in persons calling on government for the legalization of weed.
The “Say no to cannabis Advocate” said Ghana, a developing country, has not been able to deal with the indiscriminate use of alcohol, the abuse of Tramadol, prostitution as well as other social cankers.

According to her, Ghana needs to focus on enforcing laws on more relevant social issues like the poor sanitation in the country instead of legalizing cannabis. “The youth who are the future leaders will be the ones that will be affected the most if cannabis is legalized in the country since some may end up abusing it. Students may end up failing in their academics due to the excessive intake of cannabis. I have the youth at heart so if no individual will speak against the legalization of cannabis’, she said.

Rev. Owusu Prempeh revealed that most cases reported at the psychiatric hospitals are as a result of chemical imbalance of abused substances such as cannabis. She asked the Akufo Addo led administration not be compare to other developed countries which have legalized cannabis since they are far developed than Ghana.
