Story By: Zigi Reginald Mawuli:
On Wednesday, May 11, 2016, the Rite 90.1 FM MAASI project team and the staff members of the Akuapem North Agric Department were in Ahenkorase to engage Farmers, and identify farmers predicaments that will help a good planning and budgeting for 2017. At the meeting, the performance of Ahenkorase Farmers Welfare group, one of the four Farmer Based Organization, (FBO) present at the meeting, has impressed the new Director of Agriculture, Dr. Charles Serdem Etse.
Dr. Etse after being notified by his subordinate Mr. Samuel Mensah, that the group has built the huge hall the meeting is taking place in to be used as a meeting place for farmers and also have a reservation to be used as a processing center for their farm produce when harvest, told Rite 90.1 FM he is impressed with the performance of the group. He is also grateful Rite 90.1 FM has created an agricultural advocacy platform of such nature which is going to go a long way to really address numerous challenges in the agricultural sector.
The Leader of the Ahenkorase FBO, Mr. Ani Danso appealed to the leadership of Akuapem Agric Department to help Ahenkorase Farmers Welfare group to develop a processing center for their farm produce.
Director of Agriculture replied the farmers appeal by saying “All FBOs gathered must work together to help themselves and it is when you help yourselves that you will easily get partners to help grow your own business. Meanwhile I will use my office to work hard enough to provide you and others with the processing machines you have long dreamt of”
