Youth Must Take Advantage Of Farming

Mr. Roy Ayariga, the national Program coordinator for the Ghana Agriculture Sector Investment Program has advised the youth to venture into agriculture. He said this was because government was no longer able to absorb them into the Public Sector. According to him, Agriculture was now a lucrative business generating a lot of income capable of sustaining anyone who ventured into it.

Speaking to Rite news Mr. Ayariga explained that there were a lot of students graduating from our universities. He said notwithstanding this, a lot of them were still reluctant to take up advantages abounding in the agricultural sector and instead focusing on non-existent white collar jobs.

He further stated that, there were also ready markets for vegetables like soya beans which the youth could venture into its cultivation to earn a lot of money.

He noted that though a lot of youth shied away from agriculture, many others were also eager to go into it. He said what hampered their dreams of farming was the startup capital needed to do this venture. It’s from this background that Mr. Ayariga is calling on the government to make some funding vailable to support aspiring young farmers.
