Headmistress of the Ogome Anglican Junior High School in the Yilo Krobo Municipality, Madam Eugenia A. Dey is pleased that the intervention of Rite FM’s DEOP has helped the infrastructural cause of the school.
She said the intervention of the project has restored some hope to the school which hitherto had been neglected in its deplorable state.
“Thanks to the DEOP, the school can now boast of a six classroom block which is nearing completion including a library and a headmaster’s office,” she disclosed.
Additionally, the project, as she put it has instilled some discipline in the teachers who hitherto reported for school late but now report on time and deliver their best to the students.
These teachers now come to school on time because they know that the DEOP team could come around for the regular monitoring, she said.
Madam Eugenia Dey also recounted efforts made by the project team in soliciting for other needs for the school from both the central government and the local assembly.
“The DEOP has even served the government and the Yilo Krobo Municipal Assembly letters on behalf of the school for the provision of teaching and learning materials which the school is expecting,” she asserted.
STAR-Ghana with financial funding from DANIDA, Ukaid and The European Union is supporting Rite FM in the ongoing District Education Observer Project (DEOP II) which seeks to help improve the academic performance of schools in the Yilo Krobo Municipality.
